Catching Up Slowly

I've been having problems installing my new photoshop program into my laptop. I've got it temporarily fixed, but now I'm running behind on other projects. I know, I know, I'm good at excuses. I can't wait to get the holidays behind me and hopefully get caught up with life. Here are a few more pics from the Cheryl and Carmen shoot.

Mother and Daughter

I got a chance to shoot my friend Cheryl and her daughter. They are both models so I really don't need to say beauty runs in the family! It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to do it again.
I must say using work lights worked like a charm. Must try adding more light next time!

Studio Shots

Here are a few samples from the shoots I've been doing with my studio lights. It's been fun and exciting and difficult to work in my basement with the lights for the first time. There's not a lot of space and my fabric backgrounds kind of annoy me (with the wrinkles and what not.) I'm working on finding a good rythmn with everything, I'll get there.

Shooting my husband

I set up my studio lights and used them for the first time! Very exciting and frustrating at the same time. I was hoping to use the lights when my studio conversion was done but since that's been postponed, I figured I'd set up a temporary studio in the basement. I had a great day and Jim even posed for me. My husband isn't exactly the shining example of a good model. I did manage to take some great shots of him. I should have probably changed the very gay, cheesy background but oh well.

The Fall

My studio conversion plans have been temporarily put on hold. With the holiday season in gear, it is a safe bet to say the studio won't be ready till next year. I'm bummed about it too. In the meantime here are a few stock photo images I've been working on lately. There are a couple in there of my house and the outside cat (the mother of all the kitties I've been snapping lately.)

New Techniques

I've been working on some new techniques in photoshop. I'm not quite there just yet but here are a couple of my early efforts.

Update

I've been fairly busy the past few weeks even though if you have seen me on myspace it may not appear so. (I stay "connected" while I'm working.) I finished staining the concrete in the garage/future studio space and my next step was to put plywood or drywall up. I hit a snag because, well I have to do the work myself and some of you may know I tend to be lazy! Seriously, it probably takes three times as long to do something yourself (as far as construction) that if you had just one extra set of hands. Long story short, we're getting a quote from a friend of ours that does remodelling work. I'm really excited to see the finished product, which every time you ask me I say "two weeks." It will more likely be next month. Maybe. I've also gotten a part-time job to help offset the cost of putting up a new studio. There's a new lens in my future too! A new tripod too, what with Christmas around the corner and everything.
Here are some pics from my recent sessions.

Who's Johnny

As usual, I sneak in photographs during my video jobs. I was able to click these of my favorite video client. Her horse Johnny is just so gorgeous. The video is going to be awesome!

Tina

Jenna

We had a lot of fun on this shoot. I'd love to shoot with Jenna again, maybe not in the bright harsh sunlight like there was today, but perhaps in the studio. When it's finished, which I'm starting to think might not be as soon as I would like it to be.

Friend and Field Trip

A friend came over Saturday for a photo field trip! We didn't go very far, the backyard, the garage and the farm. It was a lot of fun and I hope we do it again. I used a polarizing filter for the first time. I need some more learning and research on those. I was kind of happy we didn't get such an early start cause it gave me a perfect excuse to use the CP. It was a great day for pics, and I got clouds, which hardly ever happens at the farm. Then I lost my photo friend to my husband and sports. It was okay, we were both photo'd out by that time anyway.

Getting Sick of Kittens Yet?

I love these little guys. Really, I don't think anyone can get sick of kittens. I don't think any kind of babies in general get overexposed. They are just so adorable.

Foggy Sunrise

Last week I woke up eary enough for sunrise pics. It was really foggy and there was a dreamlike quality to my backyard. Here are some of my favorite attempts. I would have taken more of my horse Jate in the fog but he was getting quite upset about how I was empty handed (he loves to eat and I didn't bring his food bucket.)
